CORRECTION:

The latest Jetliner states that the Kindergarten/1st grade music performance is on March 13th instead of MAY 13th. PLEASE ignore that date. The Kindergarten and 1st grade music performance is on MAY 13th. I am very sorry for any confusion this may have caused!

Conference Sign Up

I can't believe it is time to meet again! We can not wait to share all of our hard work. Please remember the conference sign up is now online! It is easy to create an account and choose the time you would like to meet. If you have questions please feel free to email me and I will assist you! These conferences are also student led. Students will teach you a game, share their data notebook, and then meet me to review their progress report. Please understand that conferences with me are only ten minutes of the time. If you have things to discuss that may take longer, please contact me to set up another conference.

Thank you,
Mrs. Richard

Pebbles, Sand, and Silt Kickoff

Do you enjoy investigating new things? First grade will get the opportunity to learn all about rocks and do some fun tests on them. There are so many different types of rocks and we will learn the differences! Students get to use magnifying glasses and more! To kick off the fun we learned about volcanoes and volcanic rock! First, we used homemade salt clay to form our own volcano. Next, we allowed it to dry over our four day "break". Finally, we used baking soda, vinegar, and food coloring to erupt them. We cannot wait to continue our learning!

Conference Time

Just a reminder that we have conferences starting Thursday and continuing next week! I look forward to meeting with you. For this conference students do not need to come but they will lead the spring conference. We will go over the report card and share all of the growth we have made so far. Please remember that the conferences are back to back so arriving on time would be appreciated. The conferences will take place in Mrs. Richard's room  number 117. Thank you!

More fun practice with Xtra Math!

Students have been studying addition and subtraction in math! We are hoping to start getting faster! A great way to practice is on the computer. In order to use this program you will need a one time code. This will come in your students yellow folder tonight. Please save this for future reference! This site keeps track of your child's progress and only take a few minutes each day! After passing addition facts they will get a certificate and move on to subtraction!

Balls and Ramps!

In science this month we have been working on our balls and ramps unit. Students get the opportunity to discuss the properties of different balls. What makes them roll? What materials help them bounce? We will end our unit with a trip to the Children's Museum and a balls and ramps day!
